The YDA Minority Caucus wishes to congratulate Hattiesburg, Mississippi Mayor Johnny DuPree on his historic achievement becoming the first African American in modern history to win a major-party nomination for Mississippi governor.
YDA Minority Caucus National Chairman Ralph Johnson commended Mayor DuPree saying, “We congratulate Mayor DuPree on his victory and look forward to helping him throughout his campaign. Coming from humble beginnings and working to great success, he is a great role model and the embodiment of a strong public servant. He has served with integrity and zeal during his time on the Hattiesburg Public School Board, Forrest County Board of Supervisors, and as Mayor of Hattiesburg. I am confident that he will serve well the State of Mississippi as its next governor and we wish him the best in the general election.”
