Four things you can do on Super Tuesday

Today is the biggest electoral day of the Republican primary calendar. Romney, Santorum, and Gingrich are engaged in a bare-knuckle fight to see who can spend the most money and who can take the most extreme positions to get a decisive chunk of the 424 delegates at stake in 11 states, including Ohio, Virginia, and Georgia.

While all eyes are on the GOP, there are a few things Democrats can do to build momentum for President Obama and make sure we have the most enthusiasm and strongest ground game of any candidate.

1. Sign up to volunteer. From phone banking to canvassing to registering voters, the Obama campaign is looking for supporters in all 50 states to spread the word about the President's accomplishments, expand the electorate, and get our side fired up about this November's election.

2. Register to vote. Check out Gotta Register, which has all the information you need to register to vote in your state. You can even complete the actual registration online. It's a fast and easy way to ensure you can make your voice heard this fall. And once you're all set, make sure your friends and family are registered too: Pass the site on to everyone in your networks.

3. Donate. The Democratic Party's working in all 50 states to re-elect the President, support Democratic candidates and elected officials, and fight back against the GOP's regressive agenda. We need resources to win. Unlike our opponents, we don't take money from special interests or corporate lobbyists. But we do have supporters like you. Support our party with a donation in any amount.

4. Campaign via social media. Hitting retweet or like? It's the new knocking on doors. One of the easiest, most effective ways for you to campaign is to follow the Democratic Party on Facebook and Twitter and to share our content with your networks. Start by sharing this post.

One year out: Take action this weekend for 2012

Election Day 2012 is almost exactly a year out. This weekend, volunteers will take action across the country with phone banks and canvasses in support of President Obama and Democratic candidates.

Help spread the word about the progress we've made over the past three years—and why we should elect President Obama and Democrats up and down the ballot one year from now.

A few hours of your time this weekend will help lay the foundation for a strong ground game in 2012 and make sure voters in your community are becoming aware of—and fired up about—next year's pivotal elections.

Find a day of action event in your community.

Commit to volunteer

The 2012 election is one year away as of this week—that means we have one year to build an organization that elects President Obama and sends Democrats to Congress, governor's mansions, and statehouses across the country. The first step is volunteering. DNC executive director Patrick Gaspard just sent out this email asking all of us to sign up to volunteer over the next 365 days. Take a look at his note and find out how to get involved in your community.

One year from this Sunday, Americans will be going to the polls to decide where they want this country to go in the next four years. If we want our friends and neighbors to make the right choice one year from now, we need to decide today to get involved.

We all know that to win on November 6th, 2012, we need to build this campaign now. We need to register voters, knock on doors, talk to our neighbors about the President's goals and accomplishments, and lay the groundwork for the year to come.

That's why the 2012 campaign is asking people to commit to volunteer in the months to come. Democrats across the country are jumping in to be a part of it. We only have twelve months left to build this organization—what happens next November depends on the work we do now.

Will you commit today to volunteer for 2012?

No matter who our Republican opponent ends up being, the only way we will win is by being stronger, smarter, and more organized than the other side. When you commit to volunteer for 2012, you're taking ownership of the reality we'll all face the day after the election.

This campaign may be won on November 6th, but the real work will happen every single day between now and then. Pledge to make phone calls this weekend, go canvassing this spring, or take on a leadership role in your community.

In a little more than a year, we'll all be doing one of two things. We'll be celebrating the President's re-election, and the chance to keep moving this country forward. Or we'll be wondering what more we could have done.

I don't plan on having any regrets, and neither should you. Say you're ready for this fight and commit to volunteer in 2012.

Let's go,

Patrick
